BISHOP COYNER TO HOST OBERAMMERGAU-2010

On August 3, 2010, Bishop Michael Coyner will lead a trip to the most famous and oldest passion play in Europe – Oberammergau Passion Play in Germany.  Since 1634, when this tiny town was spared from the Black Plague that was ravaging all of Europe,  villagers have kept their vow to  God to perform a once-a-decade Passion Play in thanksgiving. Everyone in the village is involved - the cast alone includes over 1,000 people. In 2010, it will be performed again - there will be only 100 performances, and once they sell out, no more tickets will be available.

The trip includes Innsbruck, Salzburg, Italy and the Brenner Pass, as well as the Abbey of Ettal, the Church in the Meadow at Wies, and the Castle of Linderhof. In addition, Pre-tours of Italy and Post-tours of Switzerland and Vienna-Prague are available.  Hosts can earn their trips by taking seven paying passengers. If you would like information on becoming an Educational Opportunities Host, or simply would like to learn more about the trip, please contact Debbie Bushfield at dbushfield@sicumc.org or at bushfield2@sbcglobal.net. You can also contact her at 812-219-9131.
